GENERAL INFO – Zimbabwe is a landlocked country serviced by the major airlines. Access to the hunting concessions is either by road or by air, depending on personal preferences. Temperatures generally range between 40F to 90F during the day. Few insects and bugs are encountered during the dry season.
HUNTING – Depending on your requirements we will tailor - make your Safari to give you the best quality hunt available. From our early “wet season” (commencing in February) Elephant hunts all the way through the main hunting season to our “late season” (November) hunts, there is something for everyone. We have all the hunted species in Zimbabwe on offer.
SOUTH - EAST LOWVELD – Generally consisting of scrub mopane woodland dispersed in the grassland of the Lowveld with plenty of riverine which all adds to the high quality feed for the game. This all contributes to the top trophy quality of the area. We are able to offer a wide variety of leopard / plains game hunts. In addition to this plains game hunting we have dangerous game to offer in the Save Valley Conservancy, Gonakudzingwa and other private and govt. properties.
MATETSI – Situated in the west of the country, this area is famous for its black- maned lion, buffalo, huge elephant, exceptional sable and big waterbuck. The area is serviced by the Victoria Falls International Airport . Hunting is an absolute pleasure in these areas. For those looking for something extra there is always bungee jumping and a class 5 white- water rafting below the famous Victoria Falls.
ZAMBEZI VALLEY - The Zambezi Valley, who’s boundary in the north is the Zambezi River, is a wild and rugged land and such has received very little pressure from man. Game within the numerous Parks, Campfire projects and safari areas roam free. Elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard crocodile, hippo and waterbuck abound the Valley is truly a Hunter’s paradise.
FISHING – Angling in Zimbabwe is a popular pastime. From the voracious tiger fish, to a largemouth bream, and the ubiquitous catfish and vundu found in the Zambezi river system to the large mouth bass found in the numerous impoundments throughout the country, the sport angler will not be disappointed.
CAMPS – All our camps are fully serviced, with laundry done on a daily basis. The succulent three course meals are prepared by our very own able and talented chefs and is served with excellent South African wines. All the skinning is done by first class, experienced skinners in camp. All trophies are prepared at the camp and transported through to a shipping agent as soon as possible after the completion of your hunt. The dipping, packing and shipping of all trophies is done at an additional cost.
HEALTH – Blisters and aching muscles can cause many days of displeasure. We recommend regular exercise before your Safari. All camps have well stocked First Aid boxes. However we suggest that you bring your own medication if you suffer from any allergies or afflictions. As Zimbabwe is prone to malaria , we strongly advise you to begin a course of anti - malarial pills at least two weeks prior to your arrival in Zimbabwe.
CLOTHING – As Laundry is done on a daily basis, excessive supplies of clothing are unnecessary. Safari clothing should be casual and light weight, we recommend three pairs of kharki shirts and trousers, as well as a comfortable pair of “broken-in” walking shoes, a cap or hat, sunglasses, a pair of light weight gloves, warm jacket and a fanny- pack for holding camera and glasses etc. Military camouflage is illegal in Zimbabwe. Please omit such items from your gear.
FIREARMS AND AMMO – Zimbabwean law allows for the temporary importation of any number of rifles, handguns, bows and ammunition. Please ensure that you declare ALL weapons and ALL ammunition upon arrival at customs. We recommend a scope fitted rifle in the .30 caliber range for soft- skinned plains game and a .375 or bigger for the thick- skinned and dangerous game. We have excellent bird shooting and recommend you bring a shotgun with plenty of bird shot. We also recommend that you bring soft cases, cleaning equipment and the following ammunition with you: Heavy caliber: 40 rounds soft / 40 rounds solid. Medium caliber: 100 rounds soft / 20 rounds solid, (if necessary have these hand loaded to shoot to the same point of impact as your softs). Shotgun: mixture from #4 to #7.5 – 200 rounds. Leopard Hunts: #000 Buck x 10 rounds.
